What is a Photoshop Action?

An Action is a series of pre-recorded steps within Photoshop or Photoshop Elements (PSE) that does all the adjustments for you to change a good picture into a beautiful work of art, just by pressing PLAY. It leverages the knowledge of Photoshop experts to use even some of the lesser-known, but powerful features of Photoshop.  Just open your picture file, select the action you want to run, and press PLAY.  If you decide you want to try a different effect, you can undo it and try a different action.  Each PhotographerPLAYground set contains a variety of actions to take your photos to the next level of quality and style.

Changing the color, hue, saturation, and other effects can dramatically change the feel and emotion of a photo.  Photoshop is a powerful tool that can be used to do this.  But the time it takes to learn such an extensive program can be daunting, and once you do learn it, you could spend hours on just a few photos.  It's also true that with nearly any software, most users will only ever use about 10-20% of the features available.  That's where actions come in.

Many professional photographers already use actions to save them time in post processing, knowing that time is money.  But now anyone with Photoshop or Photoshop Elements can use these powerful actions to enhance their photos.
